Section A - MoE guidelines for entry into Form 6
Circular Memorandum No. 14 of August 2025
1. Students must attaing a minimum of 75% attendance at regular classes.
2. Students must demonstrate exemplary discipline in keeping with the expectations outlined in the National School Discipline Matrix.
3. Students must have completed all required labs, assessments, SBA requirements and groupwork activities with adherence to SBA/IA deadlines.
4. Students must be under the age of nineteen (19) years on December 31 of the year of entry to Form 6 and must not have had more than six (6) consecutive years of secondary education.
5. Students must have successfully completed a minimum of five (5) CSEC subjects including English A, attaining grades I, II or III.
6. For the subjects selected to be attempted at CAPE the student must have attained either a Grade I or II in the CSEC pre-requisite/qualifying subject.
7. Students must attempt THREE core subjects plus Caribbean / Communication Studies
8. Once selection and registration have taken place students will not be allowed to drop or change subjects
Performance of Lower Six Students
9. N.B. Students are expected to satisfy the requirements (items 1,2 & 3) above at the end of the Lower Six class since promotion to Upper Six is not automatic.
Circular Memorandum No. 65 of 2004 - on performance of Lower Six Students
At the end of the Lower Six year, Principals are to recommend to the Director of Schools Supervision
through Schools Supervisors, the withdrawal of students who have not met the aforementioned requirements.
